My kids have a new passion...surfing. Taking after their dad, this has become an instant love. How lucky are we to live near the sea?

We visited Barcelona for 10 days over spring break...fell in love with the city and took lots of photos (iPhone only so I could enjoy being present). Here are some of my favorite memories~

This is the second year in a row we have planted an organic backyard garden. Last summer, Cal bought heirloom seeds in Portland and he also ordered a few more via catalog. In a very small space, with just 3 raised beds, we harvested a bounty of herbs, tomatoes, eggplant, squash, lettuces, radiated, and more. These beds are literally inches away from the salt water too, so I am really thrilled that everything grew and thrived in our little (salty) backyard!
There's a new boss in town...it's Archie, our 8 week old rescue pup. We are told he is 50/50 rat terrier and chiahuahua...and he is sweet, smart, and very cuddly. All this in a four pound package!

Spent a nice weekend in Naples before it gets too hot to enjoy the outdoors. It's always good to be here...and to stock up at the closest Trader Joe's.
Oh I love this town so much...simply for the incredible eye candy! (And the hotels, restaurants, and shows are pretty fantastic as well! Three days is my minimum and my maximum, it's the perfect time fame to see it all, yet not get too wiped out.
Greatest new discovery: the new and deliciously stunning and over-the-top Bacchanal at Caesars. I could go here every day, but the the 3 hour meals would probably have a negative impact on my productivity!

Did you know that in addition to being a family and child photographer I am also a sort of serial entrepreneur/work-a-holic? I admit it, I LOVE to develop business ideas, to consult, teach, and inspire other artists. Six years ago, I started Design Aglow, last year I co-founded Muses & Visionaries, and this year my team and I have created something "just for fun" called ProjectLife365. Project Life 365 is a unique photo-a-day challenge and creative community. I will be spending a lot of time over the next few months with PL365, my newest baby. So, after 8+ years of blogging...I am going to take a little break, but you know where to find me: ProjectLife365. Come join our creative community, won't you? It's free, inspiring, and guaranteed to stretch your imagination and photo skills each day!
All the best, xoxo Lena
We spent winter vacation together as a family as always, the shots above are from my iPhone in Old San Juan, Puerto Rice, a lovely old city that feels *almost* European. I came right back to mountains of work, rather than more R&R...which is fine, since I love what I do. Though, I miss the room service and lounging on a white powder beach just a bit.

We are officially done with holiday sessions, portraits, gifts and cards!
Thank you for making 2012 another wonderfully sweet year. It is now time to rest and make memories with our own families...we look forward to seeing you in 2013.

The new issue of Click! magazine has a lovely spread about our offices here at Design Aglow & Project LIfe 365. I love this!
The feature I shot for Where Women Cook magazine is finally out! Come see this inspiring 12 page feature about Aran Goyoaga and her delicious creations. We shot the whole thing in my kitchen and got to sample all of the food afterwards. Jealous???
I grew up going here and this is where I was married in 1990 (3rd pic from the right). Nothing has changed and it is still as beautiful as ever. Recently I spent the day with two friends (and legendary photography photographers: Aran Goyoaga and Elizabeth Messina) and showed them "my" Viscaya. I think they loved it almost as much as I do.
A warm day in December makes for a great long walk to this quiet stretch of ocean~

I photographed this gorgeous clothing line for a client who lived her dream and went to France to live the life she had imagined...with her beautiful family and creating a business she was passionate about. How lucky is she? I adore these images and the collages created with them below. To visit her online shop and to buy some of these heirloom children's garments, you can visit Ocean Manon. I promise everything is as delicious in person as it looks online~
Same dog. Same coffee. New car. (We call her Tic Tac). And, OMG, sooooooo much work, but I will be a published writer x2 in bookstores 2013.
THIS is why we live here....glorious sunny days and temps in the 70s with just a touch of balmy breeze. Surviving a sweltering summer has it's rewards!
Three words: Jupiter Donut Factory.
Took the boys one a mini getaway for the weekend, just the three of us. I am savoring these years, when they still want to spend time with me and hold hands.

I always love seeing these twins. And every year, we get better shots! This year was my favorite one, of the last seven. Great job, Wade and Evie!
A puppy!! Molly and Kate are pretty happy with their new BFF, can you tell? This is right outside the studio...we are loving the beautiful winter light and cool temperatures.
