last days of winter

Caden and Chace live here in the season and are about to go home to Pennsylvania for the rest of the year. I bet they will miss the beach and maybe even our “warm” weather as well. Did you know this winter was our coldest in 30 years? I say, hello spring….glad to see you!

Miami field trip

This weekend, I was lucky enough to be invited to the amazing studio of artist Edouard Duval Carrié in Little Haiti, Miami. Edouard is a painter, sculptor, and curator who is changing the Little Haiti area of Miami with fresh ideas and a cultural revitalization. His studio is huge and magnificent, with art and inspiration covering every inch of the bright and welcoming space. One of my best friends is a collector and loves his work and I am a new fan now as well, especially after meeting Edouard and seeing what he has done for the community and artists of Haiti. What an inspiration! To see more about Edouard, visit his site here.

inside out(side)

Ethan and Olivia came all the way to the studio from south Miami today and were the perfect subjects, both outside the studio (mostly) and inside too. I have found all boys named Ethan to work very well with me….maybe I am a bit partial to that name *wink* but they always do a great job and are also really good big brothers. By the way, kudos to mom and these unexpected, but perfect, brightly colored tops!

urban kids shoot

Lexi and Coby came by the studio for a few portraits before school and they were so good….I think I got many more than I anticipated! How beautiful/handsome are these kids? Coby is in karate class with my son, Cal and they have known each other since preschool. Needless to say, he and his sister were pretty comfortable at our shoot today~ gotta love that!

stylin' kids

I was beyond impressed that these two were brought to their photo shoot by their dad, who had just finished work…I’m not sure that has ever happened to me before! I have been photographing these kids for a few years now when they are in town, and I usually work with mom, but this time she was doing mission work in Cambodia for a few weeks and unfortunately, I did not get to see her. Seems dad is taking it all in stride though and the kids, well, they were awesome as usual!

girl, boy, boy…

I met up with Molly, Grady and Luke last week while I was working in Miami and I think they were really happy to leave their cold Pennsylvania weather behind for some swimming pool quality time. I know I am certainly enjoying this warm weather after a long time of unseasonal cold here. Bring on the spring sunshine!!

the stork is landing…

Heather and Charles are so excited to welcome their first baby…I just loved meeting them and working together; they are so much fun and so relaxed and easy to be with! I hope to see them again soon, as they add a little one to their family of two~

Baby Nash is here~

And, what a sweetie he is…best three week old I have ever met! (Most newborns do NOT like to be photographed when they are older than 2 weeks and they will usually NEVER curl up like Nash did for me in the first image, so I know he is going to be a really great, easy-going guy! ) Big brother Maverick is also one of my “regulars” and I was so happy to see him and his family welcome his new brother and future BFF.

boy wrangling

Cameron and Carson are 20 months apart, just like my two boys…and wow, I forgot how much chasing goes in to capturing guys at this stage in a non-motion-blurred portrait! Good thing I can get my workouts while I do my job. I love that kind of productive multi-tasking~

dynamic duo

When I saw Felix and Lucy with their bright couture, awesome hair, and big smiles I was already inspired! These expressions were easy to capture in my play room and these two just wanted to have fun. I hope to see them again soon in their hometown of Orlando!
