summer life

This is the time of the year when my blog turns from pro work to personal…each summer, I take off with my family for about six weeks to reconnect, laugh and play while we have some amazing experiences and create memories that we will treasure forever (I usually edit the summer book down to about 750 photographs). This summer, we will be returning to our most favorite place, San Francisco, which we know very well. We will also be visiting Alaska and are planning adventures such as dog sledding and helicopter touring. We are beyond excited! I hope you will join us here on the blog and I will try my best to update as much as possible. By the way 90% of the images will be with my point and shoot camera~

The above image is one of our favorite places here, the Art Van Go Studio, which offers fabulous art classes and camps for budding young artists. My boys make the most incredible creations under Sue’s (pictured above) guidance.

summer is here!

This was my final session before a much needed six week summer vacation. The studio will be open for two more weeks to complete client orders and schedule fall sessions, then we will close till the end of August. It is way too hot here for sessions anymore!!

Rain hit the studio twice today, so I was super lucky to even see Amelie and Jasper. They are very close in age, which I love for portraits. Amelie’s mom brought a whole wardrobe of amazing clothes for both kids, which I also love…and balloons, which made everyone happy. How sweet are these two?

By the way, fall is booking briskly as it does every year…if you need a session September through December, please email us within the next two weeks and we will guarantee you a spot on the calendar!

and they're off!

This is my last week of shooting before we close for summer…I was happy to get to see these three before they move to Philly in a few days. Alex, Avery, and Sammi are great kids, very comfortable in front of my camera, which made my job so easy (in 90+ degree heat, that is a huge bonus!). Wishing them a fantastic adventure this summer…

forget about the heat. just look happy.

I met up with Jordan and Kai early this morning to try out this beautiful new spot I discovered…in the most unexpected place! They did a great job for me despite intense heat (yes, at 8:30 am) and lots of bugs. Gotta love Florida.

when I drive up & see this

I just know it is going to be a great fuss-free newborn session. Babies are so much easier to photograph when they are less than a week old…they are still super easy, sleepy, and go-with-the-flow. That is why moms who book their newborn session before the baby is born always get the best shots. And, the baby generally has a better time too! How sweet is Miss Avery? Her whole nursery is painted with a colorful farm theme…really fun!

happy weekend

I’m off this weekend and will be enjoying these glorious flowers that were delivered to the studio today…see you next week! Enjoy the summer sunshine…

more from the garden

I am catching up while it rains and wanted to share some more of my favorites from this week.

Miss Gia, who is going to become a big sister this year! (She is the smallest fashionista I know too.)

Jackson with his fabulous twin sisters Josie and Sammi are also some of my favorite people. Sensing we have a holiday card here as well…

Mac and Lucy are absolutely great together…it was hard to just pick ones for the blog; I like so many!

And, finally….Treasure and Andrew, two of my happiest subjects who also happen to be expert swimmers. These two are also expecting twin babies at their house this fall. I cannot wait to photograph all four of them!

I think we have a holiday card image here

What do you think? Lately we have been seeing a LOT of 3 child families…and more babies are on the way every week! I have been shooting this awesome family since big sister Alice was the only one, then watched as Emmie and Max came along. Mom is *very* good about getting all the maternity, newborn, milestone, and holiday shots…and I love seeing these guys whenever I can.

And, some more favorites because I could not resist…

great hair runs in the family

RJ is one adorable little man…with a shining personality, a love of adventure, and the best hair ever, he will go far! His beautiful mama has a little sister for RJ on the way, and I think he will make a perfect big brother!

bright and airy

I love when mom’s dress their kids in bright, happy colors…I think these jewel tones are so much more flattering (and fun!) than traditional colorless choices. Madeline John John are lookin’ good & feeling great too…you can just tell!

I am hoping to post all my sessions from the Gardenhouse (gardenhousedecor.net) this week. Hang on, I have a lot more color coming up~
