At the annual Professional Photographers of America conference in New Orleans…surrounded by all the best equpment and tech in the world, these are the only photos I took. Yep, iPhone. The old one.

We enjoyed this lovely view while in Barbados as well as this old church and it’s grounds. My kids are so fascinated with reading tombstones…it started years ago when we visited an old graveyard in Nantucket. They also hold their breath whenever we drive by a cemetery; I have no idea why!
So…here we are back at the ship. I must have been up very early that day because there are NO people in this shot! Hmmmmm. Where did everybody go? BTW, I have been on about 20 cruises in the last few years and have never gone in any of the pools. I am proud to mention that I *did* do karaoke for the first time ever on this cruise though…and I am pretty much hooked. I am a terrible singer, but it is soooooooo much fun!

Dominica is the best! This island is newer to tourism, so the vibe there is still very quiet and friendly….and the island is absolutely pristine. We had a driver take us to see hot springs, a rain forest, waterfalls and a botanical garden where we found this bus, smashed during a 1979 hurricane (no kids on board, thank goodness). I sort of missed focus on that one…but oh, well~ it’s vacation and this was not a paying client! Later in the day, we went tubing down this wild white-water river and of course, I had never done anything like that before! It was crazy fun though absolutely freezing, or as they say in Dominica, “refreshing.”

We have been to St Thomas many times but this is the first time we were able to see this old synagogue (the 2nd oldest in the western hemisphere!) with it’s charming sand floor. I am not one for island souveniers…so we usually do not go to the downtown areas very often, but this was super and afterwards we did find an interesting pirate/sea treasure emporium (arrrrrrragh!). In St Kitts, we took an island tour with a taxi driver and had a blast seeing an old sugar cane mill, a plantation with a batik studio, and some other interesting sites….the weather was PERFECTION. I love this mountain point with the Caribbean Sea on the left and the Atlantic on the right. The Caribbean beaches are the best ones…much calmer and more beautiful~
