Who would have guessed their first request was to go to the Seward Street Slides? These are the only 2 photos I was able to capture on the point and shoot cam without extreme sliding blur.

I only had time for shooting with the iPhone on the train from Portland to San Francisco. My boys had a great time dining, showering, and sleeping in their beds onboard. I think I would fly next time though…Amtrak is just not so much for me.

We spent some time at the historic Pittock Mansion, trying to imagine what life was like in the “olden days.” It seems all the gardens in Oregon are completely bursting with flowers (and bumblebees too!) and the air just smells sooooooo good.
*still working with the point & shoot only, for over a month now!

The boys had so much fun visiting our friends’ horses and even getting to go for a little ride. I love the image of Ethan and Star meeting for the first time…animals and kids have such a powerful connection.

We spent the day with old friends and got super inspired by their amazing garden, just bursting with all sorts of flowers, herbs, and veggies. Eating fresh country food on the deck while we watched humming birds flutter around, made our time together extra special. We are definitely going to plant a small kitchen garden when we get home to Florida!

We just had a lovely lunch at a cafe on the Columbia river and at the end of the meal, our waitress took the boys back to the kitchen where they made ice cream sundaes and then picked out a prize from the treasure chest. Both picked jump ropes!

We don’t see too many mountains in Florida…or waterfalls for that matter. So, when we hiked to this lookout in the Columbia River Gorge and saw FIVE snow covered mountains from one overlook, it was a big deal! Check it out: Mt Jefferson, Mt Hood, Mt Adams, Mt Rainer and Mt St Helens.
Unfortunately, the point & shoot camera does not like bright sun very much these days…

The other day after we saw Toy Story 3 (LOVED IT, by the way), I was washing my hands in the ladies room at the theater and the boys were doing the same in the men’s room. For a minute, I thought I was hallucinating…because I saw Cal in the mirror. Turns out the theater has little peek-a-boo slices slices of glass window in between the mirrors, so fun!

It is pretty amazing to see so many snow covered peaks here, especially in summer! We rode up to the top of Mt. Hood via ski lift, for a little fun in the snow….this is the 2nd time my kids have seen snow (the first was last year on our summer vacation in Alaska). Of course, the very first things they wanted to do was have a snowball fight!
